November with Owen, family, and friends...

Hello all...hope everyone is doing well.  Just an update on how our little guy is doing.  He is to the point now where he can stand on his own for like 3 whole seconds!  It's a game to him.  He is such a determined little fellow.  It's so cool to watch him balance himself and really concentrate on standing up.  He gets such a kick out of it...as does mom and dad.

He has two teeth at the bottom and is starting to eat more and more solid foods.  We'd have to say that sweet potatoes and carrots are at the top of his list...with his biter biscuits a close second.

He's definitely found his "voice" and likes to test it out when he gets up in the morning.  He's said "mama" for awhile now...but just recently did utter the words "da-da" and then much to our surprise, he shortened to just "dad".  Obviously this put a big smile on dad's face.  He's also started to wave "bye-bye".

Jeff's family came up in October and we all tailgated before a Mizzou football game.  It was a lot of fun and grandma and grandpa had a great deal of funny loving on their grandson.

Last week, some friends from Kansas City...Craig, Jessica, and their son Oliver, came to visit.  It was great hanging out with them and Owen and Oliver are new buds.

We'll try to keep everyone updated more often!  Take care!

Update Waaaaay Overdue!!!

Okay...so here it is middle of October and we haven't shared any of Owen's recent progress!!!  Shame on us!  Owen is doing awsome.  He is growing, and growing, and growing.  He's just the most pleasant kid to be around...and lot's of fun!

He's to the point now where he can sit all on his own and can get to that sitting position all by himself as well.  He's crawling around too!!  Mom and Dad were both early walkers so that has us thinking that he will be walking before too long.  He really enjoys the outdoors and like most little ones, he really focuses in on new things...sometimes he looks to be in a trance.

He's 7 months old now and boy does the time fly.   We're enjoying every minute being new parents.  It's challenging but so rewarding.  Just watching him grow up and learn new things is so incredibly neat.

We do have some sad news to pass along.  Our chocolate lab, Molly, is no longer with us.  We made the very hard decision to put her down a few weeks ago.  Molly was diagnosed with lymphoma back in July.  She has been with Amy and I since there ever was and "Amy and I" and she will truly be missed.  She was a great dog and wonderful companion.  We miss her dearly but know she is better off where she is at now.

Owen in August...

Owen has been trying "new" foods as of late.
We've started putting some rice cereal in bottles
for him to try and most recently sweet potatoes
in a jar...something Bob Evans didn't have on their
menu.  Needless to say...it was definitely different
tasting to him and his expressions are priceless!!

"Thank God that is over!!!!!!

Owen really likes to wear his shades...maybe
he likes to check out all the ladies behind the
dark lenses :)

Molly's been doing pretty good...Owen seems
to be very fond of his puppy...

There's that cool cat with his shades on again!

Owen getting to know his feet...

Owen's July Update

Hi everybody! So it's been awhile since our last post...please forgive us...life is fast with a 5 month old! Seems like everyday our little Owen is doing something new. Whether that's bringing his feet up to his mouth, rolling over, giggling and laughing, or who knows what else...the truth is he is an ever-changing little boy and we're just loving every minute of it!

And yes, he has done all of the above and much more. He now can "scoot" a couple of inches while he's on his belly with a little help from mom or dad and we think he'll be mobile soon...yikes!!!

We do have some sad news to pass along. Our baby girl...Molly (our chocolate lab)...was diagnosed with lymphoma (cancer) a few weeks ago. We don't know how much longer she'll be with us but we ask that you keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Molly has been a big part of our lives and she will be deeply missed. Right now, we are enjoying our time with her and you never know...miracles do happen! She's doing fine right now. She's on quite a bit of medication but her spirits are pretty good. One lucky thing for her in all of this...we've backed off of any rules for Molly...so she enjoys lounging around on our couches during the day and getting fed oodles and gobs of people food.

Below is a slideshow of Owen and family from the last month or so. Take care everyone!!!

A lot sure does change in a month and a half...

Okay...so the blog started off with very good intentions of keeping everyone informed and up to date with the progress and development of our little boy Owen. There's only one problem...mom or dad have to actually update the blog for everyone to see how our little dude is growing!!! Obviously, those who are parents understand the literal meaning of "you have no time when you have little ones"...hence the reason for no updates recently.

Mr. Owen is doing just fine though. He's met a lot of his aunts, uncles, cousins, etc., but is still eager to meet a lot of you for the first time! He's doing so well. We love him to death! He seems to be the happiest little boy...filled with smiles and a cuteness that make mom and dad melt just looking at him.

He probably weighs around 13-15lbs now and is a very "tall" baby...funny...because mom and dad are both relatively short people...but hey...you never know. He "talks" to us now, he really does smile a lot, he grabs his feet and tries to put his toes in his mouth, and he really does a good job of keeping his head up and being very alert. It's unbelieveable how he focuses on different objects and people! He's soooo cool to be around! Nuff said...here's a slideshow of some pictures from the last month and a half...

Amy and Owen's Trip to Cape...

Amy and Owen spent 10 whole days in Cape visiting with family and friends and introducing our new addition to everyone. Owen met so many new people!!! Owen and mom trekked all around having lunch with folks, doing a little shopping, and even squeezed in a trip to the Commerce Winery!!! The 10 days couldn't have gone by any slower for dad. He missed both mom and his little boy very much. It's amazing the way a baby can change over the course of 10 days. He was so glad for them to come home. In fact, dad drove down to Cape on Mother's Day and picked Owen and mom up. That wasn't the original plan but it was well worth the drive to bring them home...and we all got to visit together...albeit a short visit!!! Here's a slideshow with some pictures from the visit...

Finally an update...

Well...it has been so long since we've posted anything! Life sure is hectic with a 10 week old! But worth every minute. Our little boy has been doing awsome. He is so great to be around. He just brings a smile to mom and dad's no matter how bleak the day might seem. Owen's almost a 12 pounder now and he's starting to outgrow some of those clothes that swallowed him up early on. He went to the doctor the other day and had all those nasty shots. Although it was tough...especially for mom and dad...he managed to get through it alright. Here's a slideshow of our growing little boy that we're so very proud of!

Owen sure is a growin'

We've been so busy with our new little guy that the blog page has taken a back seat lately! We are all doing well and our boy is getting bigger and bigger each day. We went to the doctor for a regular check-up about a week ago and Owen weighed 8lbs. 13oz. So he's almost gained 2lbs. since he was born back on March 5th. The doctor says he's doing perfect and assured mom and dad that we were doing things right so far!!! Thank gooodness...because mom and dad are still trying to figure all this stuff out! Hope all is well with everyone and we hope that you can meet Mr. Owen very soon!!!
